Borne in Santa Paula, California, Laura is a Southern California native and first generation Mexican American. She does proudly acknowledge her strong association with Southland’s Latino community.

Her own life is an inspiring story for any aspiring and struggling candidate. She was borne to farm labor parents. Her parents recognized her presentable expressions and rigorous attitude early and took her to Santa Clarita in northern LA for her better education and upbringing. Laura completed her schooling and graduation here and soon identified what she was made for – anchoring.

In 1989, Laura had joined KABC-TV as a full time anchor. Laura covered many historic and compelling stories and once was even at gunpoint while covering LA riots. In 1997 she grabbed the opportunity to become a lead female anchor at CBS 2’s centerpiece 5pm and 11pm newscasts. Laura Diaz is Ms. Laura Diaz Anchor now.

Laura Diaz anchor has traveled extensively to report stories for CBS, from hollowed Ground Zero site in New York to Mexican border town of Sasabe and the maximum security Calipatria State Men’s Prison near the Salton Sea, to San Francisco for an interview of Carlos Santana; all adding to her exposure and making her talent more vivid and stronger.

Ms. Laura Diaz, anchor, involves so deeply in her stories that they do impact her personal life too. This is how she got associated with “The Joyful Child Foundation” sponsoring and organizing activities against child abuse, abduction and predators.

The anchor still spares some time for her health and society both, like weight training, running and rooting for Angels and the Lakers. She also enjoys being with her family, as and when she can.
